WBG Java Jive Crow Express - August 6, 2016

It was the nicest bicycle day of 2016 here in the northlands! Temperature average of only 22C with humidity at 80% at the beginning of the ride and down to 54% by the end. The dew point was 12 C and the nice refreshing cool wind was from the NNW at 5 KPH at the beginning of the day and 16 KPH at the end.

We had 8 riders for the WBG Java Jive and 10 riders for the Java Crow Express. The Java Jive included Rob, Richard, Gordon, Chris, Jerry, David, Tim R., and me.  Except for David we all also did the Java Crow Express and were joined by Tom, Tim B., and Matt. Tim R., Jerry, Tim B., and I did Cruisin the Crow.

Unfortunately Matt fell trying to unclip and bruised the top of his leg. Tim R. was plagued with maintenance issues. He just got his road bike back after some warranty work but had a problem with the chain. He switched into his single speed for the rest of the day and then had tire issues on a brand new back tire.

WBG Java Jive Crow Express - July 30, 2016

A beautiful Minnesota summer day! Temperature average of only 23C and wind from the SE at 8 KPH. Humidity dropped from 85% to 52% with dew point at 14C.

We had five riders on the WBG Java Jive and ten riders on the WBG Java Crow Express. Tim R, Rob. David, Richard, and I did the Java Jive and the five of us were joined by Dennis, Marc, Matt, Tim B, and guest Pat from Chicago.

Marc and I did Cruisin' The Crow. Marc rode the short route and I rode with Dave, Karin, and Marcell and did the longer route down to Mayer for a stop at Ruby's Roost.

WBG Java Jive Soaked Crow Express - July 23, 2016

Temp only averaged 25C because of the cloud cover and then went down to 22C when we were riding back into Minneapolis and got caught in a downpour. We thought we could beat it back but no such luck! Wind was from the SE at 16 KPH and humidity was 70% with a dew point of 20C.

For the WBG Java Jive we had six riders and twelve riders for the WBG Java Crow Express.

The day started out for me at 06:00 for a pre-ride up on the North Side of Minneapolis along the Mississippi River. I discovered a water falls that was build by the Minnesota Department of Transportation in 1980 on Shingle Creek that I am quite sure is for water control. WBG Java Jive and Java Crow Express - July 16, 2016

A beautiful day with the temperature averaging 24C. Wind at the start of the ride from the SW at 10 KPH and  at the end from the SSW at 16 KPH. Humidity started at 87% but was down to 47% by the end of the ride.

We had four riders in the WBG Java Jive and ten riders in the WBG Java Crow Express. Karin, Jerry, Tim, and I also did the TCBC Cruisin' The Crow. Congrats to Kirin for getting in her longest ride at 127K.

WBG Java Jive and Java Crow Express - June 25, 2016

A sunny, hot, and very humid day! Temperature average of 29C with range from 24 to 30 C. Wind from the SSE to S and then finally to the SSW going from 16 to 32 KPH. Humidity was the big issue. While dropping from 77% to 61% still a major factor as it just beats you up.

We had three riders on the Java Jive with Rob, Richard, and I. For the Java Crow Express we had eight riders with all three from the Java Jive joined by Karen, Matt, Chris, Peter, and Tim. Karen and I went on to do the Cruisin' The Crow ride.

WBG Java Jive and Java Crow Express - June 11, 2016

A Sunny, Hot, and Humid Day! Temperature averaged 27C and wind from the NNE at 8 KPH. Humidity was at 86% at the start and only 33% by early afternoon so with increasing temps it was actually not bad.

We had three riders on the Java Jive with Tim, Richard, and I. For the Java Crow Express we had five riders with all three from the Java Jive joined by Tim and Matt. Tim, Tim, and I went on to do the Cruisin' The Crow ride.

WBG Java Jive and Java Crow Express with News on Java Enchilada Express - May 21, 2016

I forgot again to take a photo of the riders on either the WBG Java Jive and Java Crow Express on Saturday. Instead here is a picture of our starting point for both races at the Dunn Brothers in the North Loop right above the Cedar Lake Trail.

We had five riders on the Java Jive with Tim, Rob, Richard, Dave, and I. For the Java Crow Express we had seven riders with all five from the Java Jive joined by Jim and Matt.

It was a beautiful morning following by a wonderful day for bicycling. Temperature averaged 23C and only slight wind from the SSE at 8 KPH.

Rob and I continued on from Wayzata on the TCBC Crusin' The Crow ride. We both went long but got split up somewhere before Delano. There is a new coffee shop open in Delano but no one from the TCBC fast group was there. Dennis and I stopped at the Holiday Store and then rode together through Watertown down to Mayer.

In Mayer we stopped off at our new favorite place, Ruby's Roost. See my previous post. At Ruby's Dave, the Cruisin' The Crow Ride Leader, joined us and then we rode to St. Bonifacius where Dave stopped for more food and Dennis and I rode back in to Wayzata. I then rode back to the start to complete the day.

Tim and I are looking at changing the start place for the WBG Java Enchilada Express Wednesday evening ride to The Hub Bicycle Shop at the University of Minnesota Bike Center. This would begin in June. Be watching for more news and information as we are still doing mapping rides. The TCBC Whole Enchilada looks like it might be changing their start to the NOW Bicycle Shop in Arden Hills, which will add more miles for our ride.

WBG Java Jive and Java Crow Express - May 14, 2016

The Warehouse Bicycling Group has officially added our newest Java Stop called Ruby's Roost! While this stop in Mayer is during the TCBC Cruisin' The Crow ride, we could not help but mentioning this wonderful bakery and coffee shop. At 255 Ash Ave, just two blocks from the Dakota Trail, it is one of our better stops. All their baked goods are made from scratch and they have wonderful coffee and tea selections. The picture is of the owners, Linnea and Bob Boyd who are wonderfully welcoming to everyone and especially cyclists. Bob is an accomplished cyclist and worked at Erik's Bike Store for several years. Ruby, who their shop is named after, was one of their chickens. Her picture, along with the Boyd's other chickens, is posted at the shop. A very cold and windy day but with sun! Temperature averaging only 8C but that was with a 32 KPH wind from the NW! We were all pretty bundled up.

I forgot to get a picture of our four riders which included Tim, pictured left, along with Richard, Marc, and I. I think I was too cold! The picture of Tim was taken at the end of the Dakota Trail near New Germany, Minnesota.

WBG Java Jive and Java Crow Express - May 7, 2016

Except for the smoke from the wildfires in Canada that affected us in the early morning a delightful day for bicycling. The temperature averaged 19C with wind from the NW at 23 KPH.
