WBG Java Crow Express - June 23, 2018

A beautiful sunny day here in Minnesota. There was not enough riders for the WBG Java Jive but Edward did the route anyhow. Richard, Jim, and Edward did the WBG Java Crow Express and Edward went on to do the TCBC Cruizn the Crow Dakota Style. Richard went on to Excelsior and Jim rode straight back. We had a nice surprise with Marc showing up in Wayzata. He is on injured reserve with a heel spur that has been bothering him. Great to see Marc as he has been off for a month.

Temperature average of 23C with wind out of the SW at 7 KPH. Humidity at 50% and dew-point at 14C.

WBG Java Crow Express - June 9, 2018

A rainy day but we thought we could at least get in the WBG Java Crow Express without getting wet. The WBG Java Jive was cancelled because it was raining at 07:00 but had cleared by 08:30. The forecast was wrong as it was raining when we got to Wayzata. Cruzin' The Crow was cancelled.

Richard, Mark, and Jim went on to Excelsior and Edward went back in with the Greg, Steve, and their group. Unfortunately Edward had some frame damage after going through a bumpy part of the road going back to downtown Minneapolis.

Temperature average of 18C with wind out of the E at 15 KPH. Humidity at 77% and dew-point at 17C.

History

The Warehouse Bicycling Group (WBG) was founded in 2012 by Edward Eroe and Tim Rand after attending the Twin Cities Bicycle Club Ride (TCBC) Leader Training. Rob Mosimann joined us in 2013 after he finished his training. In 2017 both Richard Franco and Marc Hirschmann joined the team as ride leaders.

In 2012 we started the WBG Java Crow Express 51K as a ride to and from the TCBC Cruisin' The Crow ride in Wayzatta, MN. In 2015 we added the WBG Warehouse Java Jive 24K ride since the CTC delayed their start until 10:00am.

Also in 2015 we added the WBG Java Enchilada Express 22K to and from the TCBC Whole Enchilada ride in Rosedale, MN. In 2017 we have not been operating this particular ride due to the various start places for the Whole Enchilada.

Join the Warehouse Bicycling Group (WBG) on Saturday mornings at the new North Loop Dunn Brothers right above the Cedar Lake Trail in the Warehouse District of downtown Minneapolis! The address is 337 N. Washington Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55401 and the GPS Coordinates are 44.985161, -93.273659

The WBG Java Jive ride is a Pre-Ride to the WBG Java Crow! This is a fast-paced ride out on the Dinkytown Greenway to the University of Minnesota Connector to the Minnesota State Fair Grounds and then back to Dunn Brothers. Note: During the Minnesota State Fair we take alternative routes, but distance and time will be about the same.

The Ride Leaves Promptly at the start time!

A map and cue sheet are provided at our website (see below) and at each ride. Please note that leader asks that riders stay together so that we are back in time for the WBG Java Crow Express to Wayzata which leaves after this ride.

Car parking is very challenging at the ride start, especially during Target Field events as the meters are active. Be sure to check the Twins schedule or just ride over to the start via the Cedar Lake Trail. Exit the trail at the new Dock Street Flats Building near Target Field and come up the driveway to the Dunn Brothers. There is free parking on West River Parkway on the Mississippi River and not too far away from the start. Just come up the Cedar Lake Trail and exit as noted above. Enjoy a great spin on the WBG Java Crow Express 54K (34 Miles) or 51K (31 Miles) to Wayzata where the popular Twin Cities Bicycle Club (TCBC) Cruisin’ the Crow (CTC) ride is an additional option. Combining the club rides allowing riders to complete a metric or statute century and more! Depending on the riders, on any given day, some may come back to the start right after the rest stop in Wayzata or re-group after the CTC ride later in the day. On days where there is not a CTC ride we will optionally have routes that go up to 100 miles using some of the CTC routes. This will be at the Ride Leaders discretion to offer this extended mileage. Note: On the 54K route there is a bit of crushed limestone and dirt on some cut through paths.

The rest stop between rides is at the Caribou Coffee on Lake Street overlooking Lake Minnetonka in Wayzata. The return trip features Hopkins, the Greenway, and Kenilworth Trails.
